August is National Wellness Month, and Lexington is celebrating with new wellness leadership, daily chair exercise classes, engaging brain games, and exciting upcoming activities. Discover how our residents stay active, connected, and focused on healthy aging every day.

August is National Wellness Month, making it the perfect time to focus on healthy habits, active living, and overall well-being. At Lexington, wellness is more than a monthly theme. It’s part of everyday life, with programs and resources designed to help residents stay physically active, mentally engaged, and socially connected.

Welcoming Our Wellness Team

We’re excited to welcome Lauren Andrea as our new Wellness Director and congratulate Mariah Centeno on her promotion to Wellness Coordinator.

Residents and families can find Lauren and Mariah in the wellness offices outside the Dining Room. Whether you have questions about care services, medications, or health-related concerns, they are here to help support resident well-being and quality of life.

Staying Active Through Senior Wellness Programs

Regular movement plays an important role in maintaining strength, flexibility, balance, and independence. That’s why Lexington offers chair exercise classes every weekday at 11 a.m., with options designed for all fitness levels.

Residents can enjoy a variety of classes, including:

  • Chair Yoga
  • Tai Chi
  • Cardio Aerobics
  • Pilates
  • Gentle Stretching

For those who prefer independent exercise, daily stretching guides are available and make a great addition to morning routines or a relaxing activity while watching television.

We’re also excited to announce that chair Zumba and water aerobics classes are coming soon, providing even more opportunities for residents to stay active and engaged.

Supporting Brain Health and Mental Wellness

Wellness isn’t only physical. Maintaining cognitive health and social connection is equally important for healthy aging.

Residents can find new brain-boosting activities each day in the Activities Room, including:

  • Word searches
  • Crossword puzzles
  • Sudoku
  • Memory matching games

We also encourage residents to join our popular group activities, including Guess the Word on Tuesdays and Trivia on Thursdays. These engaging programs help promote mental stimulation, encourage social interaction, and provide plenty of fun along the way.
